Checklist of Course Requirements

You must have:

  • The ability to study at degree level
  • At least 3 years’ post registration clinical experience (or part time equivalent)
  • A medical prescriber willing to supervise your 12-day ‘learning in practice’ element of the course
  • The support of your employer to confirm that:
    • Your post is one in which you will have the need and opportunity to prescribe as an Independent and/or Supplementary Prescriber, or to prescribe independently from the Nurse Prescribers’ Formulary for Community Practitioners
    • You will have access to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities on completion of the course. The National Prescribing Centre have complied competency frameworks for CPD relevant to profession which are available via www.npc.co.uk
    • For practitioners across the acute care/primary care interface you will have access to a prescribing budget on completion of the course
